MIDDLE SMITHFIELD TOWNSHIP -- State police fanned out to search for clues after the Wayne Bank in Middle Smithfield Township was robbed around 1 p.m. Thursday.
Emergency officials say the robber may have been wearing a clown mask.
"Now that, I don’t know about that! I’m not too sure about that! I guess it’s different. I don’t know," laughed Tracey Jennings of Easton who walks in the area frequently.
"I didn’t come across anybody like that lately, but I’ll keep my eye out," laughed Charles Moretti of Bushkill, a bank customer.
Police say the suspect took off after the heist.
"I feel bad for them. They treat me very well there, so you know I’d feel bad if anyone got hurt," said Moretti.
There were no reported injuries.
Clown mask or not, people we spoke with believe a broad daylight robbery at the bank is pretty brazen.
“Wow, it’s a shame. It has to happen in this area, you know? It’s a respectable place. I hope they catch him and soon,” said bank customer Joseph LeBron of Bushkill.
