Better Boating

As Memorial Weekend nears later this month, area boaters will soon be making a splash at nearby lakes.  Newswatch 16's Ryan Leckey teamed up with members from the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission today at Lake Winola in Wyoming County to tackle some stats and facts surrounding boating safety.

One big fact PA Fish & Boat Commission Officers point out is that most deadly boating accidents over the past year have involved canoes or kayaks and not those typical big boats many people think about.    Other timely information officers shared with Newswatch 16 is the importance of life jackets.  Children 12 and under should always have one on that's properly fitted.  For more safety tips on personal flotation devices, click here!

If you're using a state fish & boat launch, your watercraft must be registered.  You can do that at this link!
