Giant Food has issued a voluntary recall of veggie burgers due to a possible listeria contamination.

The products affected include Dr. Praeger’s California Veggie Burger, 10 oz., UPC 8086800010, with best by dates of 1/27/18, 2/3/18, 2/9/18, 3/8/18, 3/23/18 & 4/13/18, according to a press release.

The company stated it has not received any reports of illness at this time, but the burgers contain vegetables that are part of the recent CRF Frozen Foods recall.

Food contaminated with listeria can cause a potentially fatal disease called listeriosis, the release said. Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Listeriosis can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths. Those with weakened immune systems, such as infants and the elderly, are at the highest risk.

The company recommends that customers who purchased the affected products throw them away and take their receipts to Giant for a refund.

For more information on the recall, call Dr. Praeger’s at 1-877-772-3437 or Giant’s customer service line at 1-888-814-4268.
