MONROE COUNTY -- In just a few weeks, Camelbeach Water Park near Tannersville will be filled with people ready to soak up the sun and enjoy the water.

"We are very excited. We have a new ride going in, and we are filling all the pools, making the place spic and span, cleaning up. In 18 days, there will be thousands of people here ready to splash and have fun", said Tony Keller, Director of Lifeguard Operations.

While crews work to fill the pools, lifeguard director Tony Keller works to fill the lifeguard positions.

"With all the other resorts in the area, it isn't as great as it used to be. Certainly as the summer gets closer to opening, more and more applications do come in," said Keller.

With several slots still available at Camelbeach, Keller encourages people looking for extra pocket change to apply.

"We are in the business of fun and why not have an office outdoors," said Keller.

It's not just the big resorts that need lifeguard help this season. Smaller community pools, like Dansbury Park in East Stroudsburg, are still looking for several lifeguards to come on board this summer.

In fact, the folks who oversee the pool at Dansbury Park are running a special certification program for lifeguards.

"We think it's important that we groom swimmers when they are young so they want to swim and learn how to swim and that will give us more capacity for more lifeguards in the future," said Samantha Holbert, Stroud Regional Open Space and Rec Commission.

Both resorts and community pools have applications on their websites.
