JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP – A brush fire in Lackawanna County was set on purpose.
The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources was behind the controlled burn Tuesday in the Eales Preserve on Moosic Mountain in the Mount Cobb area.
DCNR says the fire is set to burn brush, reducing the chance of a wildfire, and it also helps wild animals’ habitats.
Smoke from the fire could be seen along the Casey Highway in Lackawanna County.
