DALLAS TOWNSHIP -- A special brunch was held at Misericordia University in Luzerne County Sunday.
Misericordia University held its inaugural Mother's Day Brunch highlighting the university's Women with Children program.
The program helps pave a pathway for single mothers to get a four-year degree at the university, allowing them to live on campus for free while going to school full-time. The program aims to break the cycle of poverty that exists for so many single parents.
"Being a part of something like this is amazing. It helps ground me. It takes away a lot of the stress that goes with being a full-time student and a full-time mom and working. This program kind of alleviates a lot of the stress," said Felicia Glover of Dallas.
The Women with Children program is one of few programs of its kind in the entire country.
