He's passionate about football. AJ McKenna.

And is giving back to the community with a first of its kind football camp and showcase in the Electric City June 25th and 26th.

"You know I have a friend (teammate) that I played with at Lackawanna College in Donald Jones, and he came to me with an idea about putting on a showcase in Pennsylvania here in Scranton for the kids, and the high-school athletes. It was something that I wanted to do for a while, I just needed to get the right people in place to be able to do something like that, and he was able to help me and make it happen. It's great exposure for the kids when you get to bringing guys from the NFL in to come help out. That's always a plus to get the high school kids the exposure," said AJ McKenna.

The youth division ages 10 to 14 begins at 9am on day one and goes for 3 hours.

"We're going to break it down and have a defensive and offensive session for both age groups. Defensively the Defensive-line and Linebackers and DB's are going to get specific instruction for their position different drills to help them hone their skills," again said AJ.

The high-school age 15 to 18 starts in the afternoon.

"It means a lot! It gets me ready for the season and next year will be my senior year it's time to shine," said Saleem Pearson.

"What are you going to say to those guys when you get a chance to meet them? I'm just going to ask them can you teach me some different things that I don't know about, and get better," said Rayquan Groves.

Right now AJ is working on getting Chicago Bears wide receiver Kevin White here to the showcase. Also Matt McGloin will be in attendance-the former West Scranton Invader is currently with the Oakland Raiders playing quarterback, but he will be here come June 25th.

"Matt is a great kid and to have him at our camp and him being from Scranton and currently being an NFL player is huge," added AJ.

In the most recent NFL draft we saw two quarterbacks go in the first two picks. Jared Goff to the LA Rams and Carson Wentz to the Eagles. This showcase will hold a team camp in day two. The main focus 7 on 7 scrimmages.

"7 on 7's are important because it gives you an early look on what you are going to have as a team. You get to see what kids can do what. Our big thing with our camp is in 7 on 7's whatever teams we get in and the team that wins it we are going to donate some of the proceeds back to their athletic program to help out for the year and that's our biggest mission is to help the kids out and help the school out and give them as much exposure as possible early on in the season," again said AJ.
