RALPHO TOWNSHIP -- There aren't many people around yet, but pretty soon, Knoebels Amusement Resort near Elysburg will be full of people!

With opening day this weekend, employees are busy getting ready. They actually start preparing the day the park closes the year before.

"It's everything from dismantling rides to making sure every piece of the ride is good to go. And then before you know it it's time to reassemble it all again," Stacy Ososkie said.

Employees tested the rides to make sure they are working properly. But rides weren't the only things employees tested.

"We get very busy. Lines go out on busy days," Betty Stoner said.

Betty Stoner works at the funnel cake stand at Knoebels. She says trial days are very important.

"We've got to make sure the grease is right, the stoves are running for opening day and we've got to make sure the booth is cleaned before," Stoner said.

Since Knoebels is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, each weekend they will feature a ride for 90 cents. This weekend it's the Grand Carousel.

"We'll have a big birthday celebration on July 4th which is our actual birthday," Ososkie said.

"We love going there every year. Most of the time I just sit and let them go because my legs are bad so I just watch everybody walk by, watch all the people," Dan Hinkle said.

"It's exciting for the kids because I know a lot of mommies who like to take their kids down. My girlfriend's daughter, she has kids and they love to go there all the time," Joanne John said.

This weekend the park will also offer buy one get one free hand stamps for rides. The park is open weekends only until Memorial Day, then it is open every day through Labor Day.
