KINGSTON -- In shocking news from the entertainment world, Prince Rogers Nelson, known for decades simply as Prince, has died.

His body was discovered Thursday morning inside his music studio and home in Minneapolis.

Prince last performed in Luzerne County at the Arena on April 19, 2001. After the show, Prince made a stop at Club Amnesia on Market Street in Kingston for an after party there.

"He showed up for about 15 minutes and wouldn't come out and meet the people, which upset everybody, to put it in polite terms. Like most artists, he was difficult to work with at times," said WKRZ DJ 'Jumpin' Jeff Walker.

Club Amnesia has since been remodeled into a bank, but Walker thinks Prince's legacy will live on for decades.

"If you grew up in the '80s, which I think is just a great decade of music, if you didn't have Prince in there, it's not the same thing," he said.

Prince sold more than 100 million records during his career. Now stores like Musical Energi in Wilkes-Barre expect a boom in sales on Prince's tunes.

Fans only wish Prince didn't have to go so young, at just 57 years old.
