SCRANTON -- From Harrisburg to Pittsburgh and beyond, presidential hopefuls are crisscrossing the Keystone State ahead of Tuesday's primary and the Scranton area is playing a big role.

"She is the most qualified person alive to run these United States, so we are in very good hands,” said actress Kathy Najimy, who was in Scranton Wednesday night stumping for Hillary Rodham Clinton, a friend she jokingly calls "H-Rod."

Clinton is scheduled to be at Scranton High School Friday afternoon.

"I think it's great, and it's really exciting. As a Hillary Clinton supporter and running as a delegate, it's great to see so much support across the state and given her family is from the area. She has that connection here,” said Jessica Rothchild of Scranton.

Democrats Sanders and Clinton are facing off while on the Republican side, Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and John Kasich are competing. Some say this area definitely feels like a political battleground.

Fresh off a speech at Penn State University in Centre County this week, Bernie Sanders is scheduled to speak at the Scranton Cultural Center.

His supporters are thrilled.

"We are ready to go to the convention. We truly are. I believe one person, one vote. A lot of people are very confused about delegates and stuff like that, but it still counts. Every vote matters. We're not going to give up. This is something we believe very highly in. There's a momentum. We're part of a revolution,” said Norma Moreiko of Scranton.

Not everyone is feeling the political excitement. Newswatch 16 spoke with some people who say all of these visits and all of this campaigning is really a nuisance.

"They don't care about real people, no, no, broken promises. We're going to do this just to get your vote. That's it. They'd say anything just to get your vote,” said Ronel Walker of Scranton.

There are five states holding primaries Tuesday: Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, and Rhode Island. Pennsylvania has nearly as many Democratic delegates up for grabs as the other four states combined.
