WILKES-BARRE -- Ibn McClain, 15, walked into the Luzerne County Courthouse saying nothing Friday. The teen from Wilkes-Barre faces attempted homicide, assault and other charges along with Dashawn McLendon, 21, also from Wilkes-Barre.
Several taxi drivers testified the two robbed them at gunpoint in Wilkes-Barre between Thanksgiving and December 4th.
Wilkes-Barre police say two of those robberies happened early Thanksgiving morning.
First, a taxi driver was robbed on Madison Street.
Two hours later, the robbers approached a different driver, Jesse Honeywell. The robbers demanded money and then one shot Honeywell in the leg. Honeywell testified against the two at the preliminary hearing.
Newswatch 16 rode along with another Burgit City Taxi driver to find what it's like. David Smith has been picking up fares for four years.
Now, he hopes the two suspects have to pay if they’re found guilty.
“Hopefully, they get put away for quite a few years. It doesn't happen every day and hopefully, it doesn't happen again,” he said.
The magistrate sent the case on to trial. The attorney for McClain plans to try to get his client's case to juvenile court.
