SCRANTON -- About 39,000 Verizon workers on the east coast walked off the job Wednesday.
Some workers were picketing outside a Verizon building on Adams Avenue in Scranton.
The employees on strike work for the company's landline and cable division.
They've been working without a contract for about eight months and say one of the big issues is preventing jobs from going overseas.
Service should not be affected by the strike. Verizon says it has thousands of trained non-union workers to fill in.
