POTTSVILLE -- Whether they were jogging or walking, thousands of people in Schuylkill County didn't let a little bad weather stop them from participating in the fourth annual Yuengling Light Lager Jogger in Pottsville.

“I love Yuengling's and I thought if I can't make it I’d just lay on the hill and roll,” said Lorraine Schappell of New York, a former Pottsville native.

The 3.1-mile jog throughout the streets of Pottsville is a big event for Yuengling , America's oldest brewery.

For some participants, it's a way to get together with friends and celebrate. Amy Doyle of Minersville was celebrating her 36th birthday.

One runner said, “We come every year. Can't wait for next year and it's just a lot of fun."

Even though running in the snow isn't the ideal weather conditions for these runners, they say it's all in good fun and the only thing that matters is crossing that finish line.

“Running in the snow is fun. When do you get to do that? Normally when it's snowing out you run inside on the treadmill and that is not as much fun,” said Jennifer Snyder of New Jersey.

Jonelle Nace of Pottsville added, "If you're a runner, you run in anything, snow, sleet, rain.  If you're hot or cold you just do it because you love it."

Once they crossed the finish line, runners were treated to a block party fully equipped with what Yuengling is best known for.  It's beer.

Doyle said it’s "all for the Yuengling!"

Schappell added, "I thought this was bring your own bottle party.”

The fun didn't end with just a jog and a beer.  All 3,500 runners also received some Yuengling swag and a tour of the brewery.
