TUNKHANNOCK -- An old hotel in the heart of Tunkhannock has closed its doors and gone up for sale.
The Prince Hotel is officially up for sale after the owner left to return to India for a family emergency.
"I wanted to have a complete change," said owner Samir Mehta in 2013. Mehta told Newswatch 16 he hopes the hotel doesn't stay closed for too long. He even placed an ad in the Wyoming County Press Examiner.
Tony Warenzak runs the pizza shop right across the street and has spent many evenings dropping off pies to hotel guests.
"We've definitely noticed as far as late night, we're not getting those customers," said Warenzak.
And the bar inside is closed too until a new buyer reopens it all.
"I feel bad about it," said Delia Knipe of Tunkhannock. "I thought they were going to make a go on it."
