WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP -- There were plenty of people looking for jobs Wednesday at an employment expo near Wilkes-Barre.

Most of the job seekers we met have only been out of work for a short time.

Hundreds of job seekers turned out for the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce Employment Expo hoping to hear the words, "You're hired."

Eric Bozek is a junior at King's College and also has a child to support.

"A lot of these places seem to give a lot of opportunities to someone who's actually in my position," Bozek said.

Bozek came to the Mohegan Sun Arena near Wilkes-Barre hoping to find a job in management.

Cheryl McGlynn was a manager until about a month ago. She worked at Old Country Buffet near Wilkes-Barre until the place suddenly closed.

"20 years at that place, I never thought I'd have to do this," said McGlynn.

Lynn Voychuck worked at Old Country Buffet as a cashier. She's looking for a job with a smaller company.

"Because I don't trust corporations," said Youchuck.  "They can be here and the next minute they could fold under and not let you get your stuff."

The expo offered more than 2,000 full-time jobs and 1,500 part-time jobs, along with career development.

"Some of them need guidance and they need those jobs," said Mari Potis of the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce. "So we have some stuff and community members helping people on the floor."

Michelle Negron of Nanticoke wants some help. She graduated from the McCann School of Business Technology three months ago and has been on the job hunt ever since.

"It's been a challenge, but I'm not giving up," Negron said. "But it's been a little difficult because there's quite a few people looking for the same line of work I'm looking."
