"Get rotational..Get loose...Get loose..Good Scotty," said Ryan Runco

It's a Sunday morning and the Runco Elite Quarterback Academy is up and running.

"For now let's work on our walk up...Walk up. Ok! Slight bend in the knees and sitting on that stool," again said Ryan.

The academy is run by 2001 Mid Valley graduate Ryan Runco in Olyphant. After his college quarterback days at Lackawanna and Division II Shepherd University in West Virginia Runco returned home and started things here 3 years ago.

"Actually with any type of throw depending on if it's a three or five step drop we just work their base balance, and finishing in the pocket. It's something that I 'm really big on and really there footwork too," added Ryan.

"Why have you been doing this since the beginning of January? We'll to just get your footwork down. You know sometimes during the season you don't have time to work on it so this just gives you time to work on it if you need too," Donny Blaine-North Pocono Freshman Quarterback.

Soon to be seniors are here. Berwick's Mike Force, Scranton's Jacob Watts, and Scott Walck from Western Wayne.

"When you are a quarterback you need a good lower half. That's what all the college coaches are saying. They don't even look at your upper half. You have to have a good lower half and a good base," said Scott.

"It gives you work once a week before everybody else. You are starting so early in the year. You are indoors so you can start in the winter. It's just important because it fixes all my flaws," said Jacob.

"Not only high-school football, but us juniors we are looking into camps and potential colleges that we are going to, and quarterback is such an intricate position with every drop and every movement it counts," said Mike.

Ryan's had them in this program since January every Sunday for at least 2 hours working on footwork, in the pocket presence, and other things all in preparation for the upcoming season, and for some of these upperclassmen they are already taking college visits.

"I want to get their game where it needs to be, so when they go to that camp in June with those colleges, or their senior film comes out I want to get them where they need to be so that they can get a chance to get recruited and earn a scholarship. Because at the end of this journey and high-school it's about going off to college, furthering your education and furthering your career," again said Ryan.
