The Easter Bunny may have come and gone, but the scenery resembled a Christmas card in Lackawanna County.

Near Clarks Summit, several inches of snow blew across Newton Ransom Road and ice scrapers made an encore appearance.

Thousands of people were left without power in our area.

In Scranton, power went out early Sunday morning along Keyser Avenue.

And in Luzerne County, strong winds brought down several trees in Harveys Lake. Crews worked to get the power back on all morning.

"I would think it would happen in February, or maybe March, but go figure, April, huh?" said Tom Denny of New York.

In Susquehanna County, the snow was a nuisance, but power outages were a bigger problem for thousands of people.

"Hanging out in the nice warm truck yeah I guess until the power comes on or we can find a place to hang out that does have power," Kevin Robinson of Hop Bottom said.

Many people in New Milford lost their power in the early morning hours Sunday when a wire went down along Route 11.

"I looked out to see snow and I actually saw the blue flash. It actually lit the snow up around," said Neal Osterhoud of New Milford.

At the New Milford Coffee Shop, that meant breakfast by candle light-.

"The coffee maker doesn't work on its own so we have to do all that manually, and we have to boil water to wash the dishes," said Yvonne Gary, New Milford Coffee Shop.

Since many customers were also in the dark, they were thankful for the cozy refuge.

"This is a good place to eat whether they have power or not."

Staff at the coffee shop managed to serve breakfast and lunch by candle light, but they said if the power doesn't come on soon, they will have to move the food in the refrigerators outside.

But just after we left the café, we ran into a crew turning the borough's power supply back on.

The power remains out for many others in our area including the Poconos and northern tier.. To view outage maps from power suppliers, go here:
