TAMAQUA -- A drizzly morning didn't keep anglers away for the start of trout season in part of our area.
They lined the shore of Rabbit Run Reservoir in Tamaqua.
The season kicked off for anglers in Schuylkill County and a small part of Snyder, Northumberland, and Carbon Counties on Saturday.
The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission said there was a strong turnout despite the rainy weather.
"We've had a lot of people come out. The rain hasn't really stopped anybody. A lot of people waited in their cars 'til closer to 8:00, but that's about it. Little Schuylkill was packed and Rabbit Run. So far, it's a really good turnout, we're really happy with it," Waterways Conservation Officer Doug Daniels said.
Trout season for the rest of the state begins in about two weeks on April 16.
