PITTSTON - The owner of a Donald Trump big rig that got stuck Wednesday evening says the whole thing was a "miscalculation."

The rig was heading across the Water Street Bridge to West Pittston when it got stuck. The damage to the bridge is minimal but the situation caused a lot of chatter among people in Pittston.

The truck driver was a woman working for Bob Bolus's truck parts and towing in Throop. She's been on the job a couple months and Bolus is giving her another chance.

Bolus showed Newswatch 16 some damaged it caused underneath the truck, about $100 worth.

“It wasn't careless, it happens! In this industry, in the trucking business, you'll find it every single day,” he said.

Bolus believes the situation was a 'miscalculation,' because the driver of that big rig should have taken a right onto Main Street coming from William Street and should have tried getting over another bridge to get to West Pittston.

The Luzerne County Road and Bridge Department inspected the bridge for damage, finding mostly minor scraping, like to the guide rail. But this wasn't the first time a Bolus truck driver had an incident involving a bridge.

In 2012, a Bolus driver hauling heavy equipment scraped the underside of the Moosic Street Bridge in Scranton. The driver ended up pleaded guilty to "failure to prevent a catastrophe."

But Bolas said, “I don't think we want to drive a truck off a bridge for publicity. This was definitely not a political stunt.”

The truck driver was cited and faces a $500 fine for attempting to cross the restricted bridge. Bolus is considering to fight that because he believes the truck was allowed on the bridge, because it was under the weight limit
