SCRANTON -- An Old Forge pizza favorite has opened a second location outside the so-called Pizza Capital of the World.  Revello's Pizza opened up shop in The Mall at Steamtown, the first of several new businesses planned for the mall.

Revello's Pizza is sticking with the Old Forge tradition in its new location in Scranton.

"A lot of people have stopped that have never had Old Forge pizza. It was their first time, and everyone was smiling so we were happy," said owner Heather Revello.

The Old Forge pizza restaurant has been around for 50 years and just opened in a storefront in The Mall at Steamtown, complete with cuts of red and white pizza and a cannoli bar.

"I think with something new like this coming into the mall it would be a great draw for the mall with the new owner, and hopefully this will kick off more good things to come," said Marianne Vergnetti of Dunmore.

The mall's owner has some displays in the mall advertising new businesses. They include Crunch Fitness set to open later this spring and Iron Horse Movie Bistro set to open this summer. Revello's Pizza is the first new business to actually open. Mall employees told Newswatch 16 they hope it has a snowball effect.

Sarah Cruz started working at the mall shortly after it was purchased by real estate developer John Basalyga.

"I always had confidence since Mr. Basalyga bought the mall. I  know it's a slow-going process because it has been sort of depressing for a few years, and so of course, everything isn't going to happen overnight. It's going to take a while," Cruz said of the mall's progress.

The owners of Revello's hope that while we wait, some will stop and share some pizza.

"It's exciting. I think the mall is coming back and we're thrilled," added Heather Revello.
