MONROE TOWNSHIP -- A family of eight lost nearly everything when fire swept through their home in Bradford County.

Volunteer firefighter Scott Mosier, his wife, and their six kids lost their dream house in a fire Sunday morning near Towanda. Now the family has to start over again.

Mosier is a volunteer firefighter, but it was his dog Dallas who ran into a burning house this time. When Mosier's home along Liberty Corners Road caught fire, he was away at work, but his wife was inside with four of their six kids.

"I got a phone call from my father that my house was on fire," he said.

Mosier's wife Renee was in the bedroom with their toddler, when she realized the house was on fire. She had to get the 4-year-old twins out of their bedroom and then go downstairs and get their 11-year-old son before the family could escape.

"I knew I had to get my kids out and I got them out," Renee said.

"I am very grateful. She did an awesome job," Scott said.

Scott built his dream house in a rolling pasture next to his father's farm. He moved in with Renee and watched their family grow. Now many of their children's treasures are gone.

"You name it from the kids' toys, pictures, stuff we had hanging on the walls, basically everything."

Scott's firefighting brothers did save some things. Some photos were hauled out in a wooden chest.

Supportive friends and family showed up by the truckload.

Dallas was so determined to protect his family, he tried to fight off the firefighters.

There's no word on the cause of the fire, but it appears to have started in the laundry room.

Donations are being collected at the Century 21 office in Wysox. The family said they have already received plenty of furniture and clothing, and said gift cards would be most helpful.

This was one of two fires in Bradford County Sunday morning. Another one in nearby Towanda forced out a family of three.
