SCRANTON -- Whether it was in a t-shirt or a three piece suit, hundreds of people hit the slopes at Montage Mountain Ski Resort in Scranton to close out the season.

"It's a lot of fun because the weather is a lot nicer so it's a lot of fun and it's just a good atmosphere and environment," said Tyler Kotowski of Scott Township.

For many resorts in our area, the weather took a toll on skiing and snowboarding.  Tyler Crawford is one of the directors at the resort.
He tells us the mountain struggled this season but workers made the best out of what Mother Nature threw their way.

"We had a four week delay right in the beginning of the season and of course that kills you like any other resort out there in the east but day for day, most days we were up this year.  We found out people still want to ski," said Crawford.

Daniel Muser from Shavertown was happy to go down the slopes one last time and enjoyed seeing a crowd of people at the event.

"I wasn't expecting many people here because there isn't much snow just surprising but it just goes to show how many people ski," said Muser.

Skiing wasn't the only thing going on here at mountain fest there was also plenty of food, entertainment and games for people to enjoy. Now those who did stop by tell us even though it was a warmer season, there is still plenty to celebrate.

Melissa Kapuscinski from Old Forge gives credit to the resort for working with the poor weather conditions.

"I'm happy the business they got for what it's been but it was a good turnout I feel," said Kapuscinski.

Others who showed up to mountain fest tell us even though the season was cut short, it's still better than not making it out on the slopes at all, and hope for a better season next year.
