OLD FORGE -- Spring is just a few days away and at Bloomin' Idiots Floral and Garden Center in Lackawanna County they are gearing up for the busiest season of the year.

Jackie Bower, a co-owner at the shop in Old Forge says this spring is one that they have been waiting for.

"All our roads are open. There's no roads out. No hazards around us so people can get to us and we think they're all going to come back and we're happy about that," Bower said.

The flower shop has struggled financially in recent years because of bridge replacement projects in Moosic and most recently on Lonesome Road in Old Forge.

The bridge re-opened in November which means business is getting back to normal just in time for spring.

"I've had people say that they haven't been here for four years because the bridges. They couldn't get here easily," Bower said.

Marguerite Bazzarri said she's happy to see the shop is getting more business. She's still waiting to start planting at home.

"Not to plant yet but the flowers are coming up. You know they will come up today and tomorrow they will get cold and die. They don't know when to come up out of the ground," Bazzarri said.

It has been so warm lately that things are starting to bloom in parts of Lackawanna County.

Experts say despite that, gardeners should only plant certain plants right now because the ground is still cold.

Brian Jones Siekierka Landscape spent the afternoon in Moosic. He said thanks to the warmth the business is getting a jump start on spring landscaping.

"We just started this week, but we're really busy already. It's nice to be out a week early because we'll just be a week ahead for when stuff starts to happen and it gets really overwhelming," Jones said.

Spring officially begins on Sunday.
