Update: Owners of Country View Manor said repairs were completed and water pressure was being restored to residents Saturday evening. They said pressure could be low until Sunday morning.

DUNMORE -- An apartment complex in Lackawanna County has been without water for more than 24 hours.

Water meter testing at Country View Manor on University Drive in Dunmore turned troublesome after managers tell us a water main broke early Friday morning.

The break caused 300 people to lose their water.

"It's really surprising because I was gonna run a load of laundry. I was gonna run up the dishes. I was going to shower but no, not going to happen," said Christine Simington of Dunmore.

Managers at the complex tell Newswatch 16 a contractor was testing the system. The main water line that feeds the building broke and as a result, the water had to be shut off.

"When they were turning on the water, the guy that was doing the work, the calibration, said, 'I heard a pop.' So, I'm like, 'Was it in the building or outside of the building?' And he said, 'Oh no, it was in the building.' And we didn't really see anything at this point," said Mike Giordano, the property manager.

Giordano has been going back and forth with the company doing the testing, but has yet to receive any help.

He tells us he had to hire a private company to do the work.

"It's very discouraging. It was a long day for me and it's going to be an even longer day for the tenants until they get water," added. Giordano.

Management tells us they were able to turn on the water for a half hour just so tenants could do something as simple as flush their toilets.

Some tenants we spoke to tell us the last few hours have been difficult and they hope the water issue gets resolved soon.

Tim Fox says he works strange hours and came home to the surprise of no water.

"I never realized what a luxury it was to have water. I have laundry to do and a shower would be nice," said Fox.

Newswatch 16 reached out to the contractor but did not get a comment.

Managers at the apartment complex hope to have their tenants water back as soon as possible.
