STROUDSBURG -- A crash had part of a highway closed in Monroe County for most of the day Monday.

Traffic on a section of Interstate 80 near Stroudsburg was slowed because of the wreck.

PennDOT said the wreck is on I-80 eastbound between the Stroudsburg exit (308) and Route 209 North/PA 447 North exit (309).

A tractor-trailer headed east rolled over onto a Ford Mustang before landing partially in the westbound lane.

The crash left the truck driver pinned for about 20 minutes, while two people in the car were not seriously hurt.

Milk spilling from the truck ran down into Brodhead Creek.

Emergency officials say this situation could have been a whole lot worse.

"We've got the hazardous materials, the fuel spilling. The truck, if it wasn't secured the way it was actually holding itself up, that could have rolled over further, could have been fire," said East Stroudsburg Assistant Fire Chief Joe Totero.

Traffic was down to one lane on westbound Interstate 80 and drivers tell us traffic is backed up into New Jersey.

Eastbound traffic on I-80 was shut down near East Stroudsburg.

Drivers had to get off at the Park Avenue exit and detour through Stroudsburg before getting back on Interstate 80 at the exit 308 on-ramp.

The interstate was back open around 10 p.m.
