KRESGEVILLE -- At least one golf course in the Poconos is taking advantage of this unusually warm weather.

Golfers dusted off their clubs and hit the links in Kresgeville on Monday. Hideaway Hills decided to kick off the season a little earlier than usual.

"We are open today. It's one of the earliest days in March that we've opened, at least we know we're not going to have a six-month winter after having two long winters," director of golf Kevin Trilble said.

Golfers were excited to get tee times before St. Patrick's Day even if the greens aren't exactly that green just yet.

"I was the second one on the course, which is great. It was like having my own course, beautiful," said Dave Carbone of Pocono Pines.

All 18 holes were open under sunny blue skies.

"It's terrific actually. We both like to get out as early as we can. I played last week in Florida," Charles King of Polk Township said.

While golfers were out enjoying the greens, workers at Hideaway Hills were busy picking up what winter left behind.

"They have a lot of debris to pick up from the wind storms that have come over the last couple of weeks. The greens though, if you are coming here next week, it's going to be a total different look," Trilble said.

As the golfers drove the course they were amazed at just how great the conditions were.

"It's really nice. You can't complain. Anytime you can go out and play golf on a beautiful day, it's a win, win," Carbone added.

Hideaway Hills says with temperatures in the 70s expected later this week they'll be open as long as Mother Nature keeps cooperating.

"I hope we have it for another, well, right into spring. Hoping not to see any more white stuff," said King.
