SCRANTON -- The Irish flag was raised Sunday afternoon in an annual tradition to kick off the St. Patrick's season in Scranton.

The Irish Cultural Society and Ancient Order of Hibernians held the joint ceremony on Courthouse Square.

There was also a wreath hanging ceremony and step dancing by members of the Gallagher School of Irish Dancing.

Scranton's St. Patrick's Parade is Saturday March 12.
