PITTSTON-- While nature might not offer much green this time of year, downtown Pittston was filled with the color Saturday morning.

The Pittston City St. Patrick's Parade is the first of the season in our part of Pennsylvania.

"When you see this parade, now you know that spring is coming," said Hazel Pepe of Wyoming.

Last year, organizers worked for hours to clear ice from the sidewalks before the parade. This year, it wasn't a concern.

The parade featured dancers, bands, floats, and even a group of ducks tinted green.

Forgotten for decades, the parade was revived in 2014, showcasing the communities revitalized downtown.

Businesses along the route use the day to find new customers.

"We're getting people to stimulate the economy and were having a great time while we are dong it," said Nick Malasto of the NEPA Tattoo Club.

At Harry Jackett's Lunch, a menu of green specials brings in customers. Jessica Zelonis says some of the people that come in on parade day, keep coming back.

"We had a few last year. They wanted us to make them green eggs while they were here again."

Both vendors and residents enjoy the chance to parade what Pittston has to offer.

"You get to see the best parts of Pittston: the food, the great things we brought to life," Joanne Masulis said.
