PITTSTON -- A new event was part of parade day in Pittston.
The Leprechaun Loop one-mile run and walk started outside the YMCA before the parade started.
Not only were there prizes for the winners of the race, there were also prizes for the three best costumes.
"We are kicking off the parade. That was the reason for putting it first, so the crowd will be really excited," said race chair Tiffany Ferentino.
Some of the proceeds from the Leprechaun Loop went to the Care and Concern Ministry of St. John the Evangelist Church in Luzerne County.
