MOUNT POCONO -- On the day the suspects are in court, an 81-year-old woman told us how she went after the two people who stole her purse.

The older woman received attention last month when she chased down the crooks who had snatched her purse in Mount Pocono. She even rammed the suspects' getaway car with her own.

The suspects were due in Monroe County court to face charges.

The suspects who admit stealing that elderly woman's purse were caught in a parking lot in Mount Pocono.

Alice Makla uses two canes to walk at 81 years old, but that didn't stop her from fighting back against robbers last month.

"He took my pocketbook; I mean really, he took my wallet. No one takes my wallet and gets away with it," Makla said.

Police say William Hayhurst and Erin Vanmatre targeted Makla. They scammed her for gas money in Mount Pocono and followed her to Knob Road.

"I said right away, 'what are you doing here?' He says, 'I'm looking for so and so.' I said, 'they don't live here.' He says, 'oh, yes, they do. I see them in the house look, look, look, they're in the house.'"

That's when Hayhurst snatched Makla's purse and this feisty 81 year old fought back with the front end of her car.

"You don't grab my pocketbook and jump in your car and run away, so I took my car and hit him twice to stop him."

Makla blew threw two stop signs on Knob Road chasing the crooks, then called police when her wallet was tossed out the car window.

Police found the suspects about an hour later in this a ShopRite parking lot, all because of the damage done to that car.

Both Hayhurst and Vanmatre ignored our questions as they walked into their preliminary hearings in Mountainhome wearing handcuffs.

Makla says she isn't scared to face her attackers and wasn't scared to fight back.

"No, of course not, I was annoyed. You'd be annoyed, too, if somebody took your wallet."

Makla had about $140 stolen from her purse.

Hayhurst and Vanmatre gave up their right to a hearing and are headed to trial. They're both locked up in Monroe County.
