WILKES-BARRE -- A woman from Luzerne County couldn't be at her 100th birthday party over the weekend, so the party came to her.
A surprise party was held Wednesday at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre for Helen Wilkes of Nanticoke.
A party had been planned for Sunday, but Helen ended up in the hospital.
So the staff, along with Helen's family, friends, priest, and members of the choir from St. Faustina surprised her on Wednesday with cake and singing.
"I was overwhelmed that all these people were here. The choir was here," Helen said.
Helen has been singing with the choir at St. Faustina Parish in Nanticoke for 90 years and is a veteran pierogi maker.
We wish Helen a very happy birthday.
