BUFFALO TOWNSHIP -- A former teacher's aide assigned to Lewisburg Area High School is charged with having sexual contact with two high school students; one under the age of 18, the other under the age of 16.
For parents in the school district in Union County, this news is upsetting.
“I worked at a school district for 10 years, you don't do that stuff,” said parent Jill Snyder.
“We just moved from Milton to Lewisburg two years ago to have our kids come here, from Milton School District, just because it's third in the state in public school district,” said parent Brady Hall.
Buffalo Valley Regional Police say Chelsea Lorson, 25, of Milton was arraigned on several child sex crimes but said none of the alleged crimes was committed on school property.
The Lewisburg Area superintendent says Lorson was an employee of the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit and had been assigned to the high school as an aide for only a short time.
When alerted of the investigation, the superintendent says Lorson was immediately removed from both the district and intermediate unit.
“We know that it's been removed, that we don't have to worry about our kids in that situation,” said Snyder.
At Lorson's home in Milton, the person answering the door declined to talk.
Now the district plans to hold a public meeting Thursday at 6 p.m. in the high school cafeteria to update parents on the investigation.
“Unfortunate things happen at every level, every school from top to bottom but it's awesome that they take action right away,” said Hall. “Makes me feel safe, when I have three kids in this school district myself.”
The superintendent says joining school officials at Thursday meeting will be the Buffalo Valley Regional Police Department and the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit.
