MOUNT POCONO -- A wintry mix created a mess and troublesome travel in the Poconos Tuesday.

Drivers like Millie McAlman of Tunkhannock Township were forced to scrape ice from their vehicles.

“It's terrible. I'm not a winter person, even though I've been in the Poconos for over 20 years. It's hazardous, just driving, that's bad,” she said.

The slick mixture made for sloppy roadways and treacherous driving.

On Interstate 380 south near the Mount Pocono exit, one vehicle went off the slushy road Tuesday afternoon, hitting a disabled vehicle on the shoulder. State police say the driver lost control because of the conditions. No one was seriously hurt.

Plows were out, clearing the mess from roadways and parking lots.

As the sleet fell, freezing temperatures coated things with ice and icicles.

“A mixed bag is better than just snow, unless it freezes in my driveway and my car slips out in the road,” said George Tomei of Greentown.

"Slow down, get your shopping done now and don't go out late at night, common sense will get you through,” warned Tony Costanzo of Barrett Township.

Common sense or not, this February storm has Millie McAlman dreaming of the Aloha State. She was there a few years ago and wishes she was back.

“Yes, definitely, somewhere warm and sunny, where there isn't any ice,” she laughed.
