SCRANTON -- Old Forge is commonly referred to as "The Pizza Capital of the World."

Now, two native filmmakers are trying to spread the word about the area's pizza with a new documentary. The movie is called Tray: A Cut of Culture.

"Nobody else calls it tray," said Co-Director Joe Dominick. "You can go anywhere else. You can go an hour in any direction and no one calls it a tray of pizza."

Pizza-makers from all over northeastern Pennsylvania came out to Backyard Ale House in Scranton to help raise money for these two filmmakers.

"It is, in fact, a very emotional thing for a lot of people," Dominick added. "There is a connection with pizza and our community."

Dominick and Jeremy Saltry are both from the area but have since moved away. It goes to show how passionate they are about the area's pizza that it brought them back.

"As much as this is about pizza, it's more about people," Saltry added. "It's more about people. It's more about culture, tradition and community than anything."

Fifteen different pizza places donated for the fundraiser.

"They seem to be passionate about what they're doing just like I'm passionate about what I do," said Elio Ghigiarelli Jr. of Elio G's.  "I make the best pizza in the world."

"I've been all over the United States and this is a treasure between Carbondale all the way down to Nanticoke," added Dan Ward of Wyoming.

The documentary should start shooting in the next couple of weeks throughout the area at different pizza joints.
