PALMERTON -- Strikes and spares were the goal Sunday at the Carbon County Special Olympics' 10th annual bowling competition.
Haja Lanes in Palmerton was packed with athletes and their families.
Organizers say after months of training, it's exciting to see the athletes put their skills to the test and cheer each other on.
"It's so neat to watch them bowl and compete against each other," said Chris Anthony of Carbon County Special Olympics. "It's one of the few sports I know of where they will high-five their competition when they score a strike. You never see a professional athlete do that."
The gold medalists at Sundays competition qualify for the Eastern Sectional Competition that is scheduled to be held in the Lehigh Valley in April.
