MILTON -- Donald Trump has had some famous feuds with celebrities and politicians, but now he is facing off against the head of the Catholic Church. During a visit to the U.S./Mexico border, Pope Francis was asked by reporters whether a good Catholic could vote for Donald Trump. The pope answered that anyone who wants to build a wall instead of a bridge is not Christian.

"He talked about Trump's approach to the situation not being Christian. That is a big difference from saying Donald Trump is not a Christian," Pastor Steve Shirk said.

Pastor Steve Shirk is head of First Presbyterian Church in Milton. Donald Trump is a Presbyterian. Pastor Shirk says he agrees with the pope in some ways.

"Donald Trump's approach to the immigrant situation is not Christian in the sense that the Bible teaches us to be open to the stranger and the immigrant," Shirk said.

But Pastor Shirk does not feel anyone should judge someone else's faith.

"It's not my job or the pope's job to judge the relationship between Donald Trump and God," Shirk said.

Several people we spoke with agree with Donald Trump and say the pope has no place judging who is Christian. Others we spoke with agree with the pope.

"I don't think he's a Christian either because people with a lot of money, if they ain't trying to help poor people, and they're hoarding that money, they're not Christians in my book," Mary Dersher said.

"My opinion as a Christian isn't spouting your mouth off and then apologizing for it. Think before you speak and say something that's Christian," Laurel Hertz said.

Donald Trump has since called the pope "a wonderful guy" and says he would meet with him whenever Pope Francis wants.
