SCRANTON -- An employee at a nursing home in Scranton is behind bars accused of sexually assaulting an elderly woman in his care.

A nurse at the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania called police Thursday night. She said she walked into a patient room and saw something almost indescribable. She says one of her coworkers, Ricardo Yusko of Swoyersville, was sexually assaulting an 86-year-old patient who suffers from dementia.

The Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania on Vine Street in Scranton provides skilled nursing, rehab, and dementia care to the elderly.

Officials there have not returned our calls for comment on Yusko.

According to court papers, a nurse at the facility walked into a patient room to find Yusko there with the 86-year-old woman. The patient was half naked. Yusko had his pants unzipped.

Yusko eventually admitted to officers that he has inappropriately touched the patient, but he claims, only because the woman made sexual advances towards him.

Police tell us Yusko was a certified nursing assistant. Jewish Home officials have not said how long Yusko was an employee there.

Yusko is locked up in the Lackawanna County prison on $20,000 bail.
