NEW PHILADELPHIA -- Time is running out for one lottery player in Schuylkill County. Last year, someone bought a winning Cash Five lottery ticket but never claimed the $225,000 prize.

The ticket will expire next week.

"I hope they look for it and didn't throw it away by mistake or something, you know what I mean? It's a shame if they did," said Jon Lipzik.

The winning ticket was sold at McMullen's Market on Valley Street in New Philadelphia on February 15, 2015. It matched all five white balls drawn.

The numbers: 03-07-12-26-27.

A winner has yet to come forward and the ticket will expire in one week.

"It's somewhere out there," said John Difilippo. "In the washing machine or some sock drawer."

John Difilippo from Middleport has been buying tickets at McMullen's Market for many years. He found his ticket from last year's drawing but came up short on matching the numbers.

"I had a ticket for that day. I found it and I checked it out and I only had one number that day, so it wasn't mine."

People who buy their lottery tickets at McMullen's Market tell us they feel sorry for the person who may not cash in on time, but the silver lining is that money won't go to waste. If no one claims the prize by next week, the money will stay in the lottery fund and will be used to support programs that benefit older Pennsylvanians.

"It will come in to good use one way or another," said store owner William McMullen.

"It's a loss but a gain for somebody else," Difilippo added.

If the ticket goes unclaimed, people at the store think this misfortune will serve as a reminder for lottery players to always check their tickets.
