PORT CARBON -- There's still a lot of snow on the streets throughout Schuylkill County after a winter storm dropped more than two feet of snow last month.

In Port Carbon, workers are still clearing streets after Mother Nature left behind 27 inches of snow.

Port Carbon's street supervisor says it has been a lot of work getting rid of the snow since the January 23 storm. The trucks have been hauling piles of snow to places like Miller's playground just to get it off the roads.

"Still cleaning the streets to find the storm drains so the water as it melts has somewhere to go, so it don't flood out houses on Jackson and Pike Streets," Bernard Vigoda said.

Right now the Schuylkill River is low, so river flooding isn't expected to be an issue with the rain and snow melt.

Heather Snyder says regardless, she's still a little worried.

"I think it's a combination, because it's supposed to warm up. So between the rain and the warm up, you know, we might get a little bit of water in the basement," Snyder said.

A few miles away from St. Clair we found crews clearing streets there too.

Borough employees also have concerns that rain and warm temperatures may cause problems.

"Yeah, it will be in people's cellars, that's where it's going to be. It'll be blocked up around piles and it's going to be in their cellars," Robert Price said.

While there is no flood watch in Schuylkill County, residents should keep an eye on streams and creeks with the upcoming rain and snow melt.
