SUNBURY -- Folks in our area have been preparing all week for this winter storm and we found lots of people either heading to the grocery store for food or the hardware store for snow supplies.

The aisles inside Cole's Hardware in Sunbury are filled with shovels and ice scrapers while there is a lot of rock salt and ice melt outside the store.

"I don't have any rock salt at home and I'd like to get some for the weather," said Ed Coup of Milton. "This is pet-safe because I have three dogs."

The hardware store on Chestnut Street was a revolving door of people buying snow supplies.

"I just bought a snow shovel," said Harriet Shane of Sunbury. "I wore the ones out last year, literally!"

If people weren't at the hardware store, it seemed like they were at grocery stores like Weis Markets on North Fourth Street.

Weis Markets was very crowded in anticipation of the storm. Even though the amount of snow is likely to vary depending on where they live, people want to be prepared for anything.

"They said that you should have a quart, or a gallon of water for each person in the family for the number of days you're going to be in," said Tina Heckert of Selinsgrove. "At this point, I think we've got maybe 10 bottles of water in the refrigerator downstairs."

According to officials at Weis Markets, delivery schedules have been pushed up, and all of the stores have been sent extra shipments of milk, bread, and eggs.

"Need some last minute things to get before the snow comes tomorrow," said Donald Trego of Shamokin Township. "Not the eggs, but the bread and the milk."

Employees kept shelves stocked so people could shop quickly and efficiently. Most people we spoke with say they hope the upcoming storm is all hype.

"Hopefully, we don't get as much snow as they say. We're just taking it easy for the rest of the weekend," Trego added.
