MONTROSE -- A man was sentenced Thursday morning for his role in a deadly crash in Susquehanna County.
Derreck Anderson of Hop Bottom was sentenced to 18 months to five years for involuntary manslaughter.
A passenger in Anderson's vehicle, Shannon Schuler of Nicholson, was killed when Anderson lost control on Route 374 near Lenox in August of 2015.
Outside the courthouse, Schuler's mother did not show any forgiveness toward Anderson.
"It was a tragic avoidable accident," said Michele Schuler. "It was very avoidable. It didn't have to happen."
Anderson will be entered into the state prison's boot camp program for rehabilitation.
Anderson pleaded guilty in December.
