COVINGTON TOWNSHIP -- With cold weather finally here and more on the way, you may find yourself pulling out the shovel.
From winter supplies, to winter tires, businesses say winter sales are finally picking up.
If you're looking for a snowblower this winter, Bill's Ace Hardware near Daleville has a full supply at its store in Lackawanna County.
They have more than just snowblowers, they have everything winter.
We found Grant Palmer picking up wood pellets: something he knows he will need more of this week.
"With the impending cold weather, I'd rather be ahead than behind," Palmer said.
Getting to stores like this one sooner rather than later may be a good thing. Store manager Chuck Cottle says people are already talking about the potential for snow this weekend.
"I said to my other managers, 'Did anyone hear that there is a storm coming that we should know about?' Because everyone was coming in and buying rock salt and shovel and talking about it," Cottle said.
With snow in the forecast this week, people are finally starting to realize that winter is here and its time to get the tires on the car.
At Sandone Tire in Scranton, workers are putting winter tires on 20 to 40 vehicles each day. The store manager said it's a lot more than a few weeks ago.
"Both stores were getting calls for appointments and such. It gets to the point where we can't even take an appointment because so many come walking in the door. You just have to take them as they come," Michael Curtis said.
With the chance of a plowable winter storm the end of the week, Michael Curtis suggests you switch your tires sooner rather than later.
"I mean we got off easy in December with the temperatures, but we're in northeastern Pennsylvania. The winter is going to happen. The snow is going to happen, so the sooner the better." Curtis said.
