LEWISBURG -- In an era of IMAX, 3D and other modern movie theaters, one single screen theatre in Union County is proving some things are timeless.

Campus Theatre in Lewisburg celebrated 75 years by showing the film "How Green Was My Valley," the 1941 Academy Award winner for best picture , which was the year the theatre opened.

Officials with the Campus Theatre estimate that there's fewer than 25 up and running single screen theaters left in the United States.

"Been coming here all my life and it's intimate and it offers the same first run movies," said Shelly Sholley of West Milton.

"Other movie theaters are comfortable because the seats are more comfortable and the air conditioning and the sound and everything, but this is quaint," said Margaret Weirick of Northumberland. "You wouldn't mind riding in an old Studebaker every so often even if you had a Corvette."

Bucknell University took over the theater in 2010 and secured $2.5 million in grants for renovations giving hope to everyone who works here that the theatre is here to stay.

"Between great film, a community, a university, and just having the opportunity to be here and to be a part of the whole experience, it's very important to all of us that come in here," said Andy Seal, technical director.
