Millions ar ound the world tonight will be ringing in 2016 at house parties or community events. And if you're one of the many either throwing or attending a gathering, Newswatch 16 is cooking up some tasty ideas for your New Year's Eve bash. The following recipes are courtesy of OTOWN Craft House along the 400 block of Lackawanna Avenue.
OTOWN Caribbean Shrimp
Serves 15-20
- 2 pounds peeled and de-veined shrimp
- 1 large can chunked pineapple (Add the juice to the marinade)
Marinade
- ½ tablespoon ginger
- 1 ½ cups Soy sauce
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ½ cup Bourbon
- 4 tablespoons chopped garlic
Place the shrimp & pineapple into a large bowl with the marinade and set in refrigerator for at least 2-3 hours.
Saute the shrimp & pineapple in a pan with 3 tablespoons olive oil.
Serve over rice
OTOWN Blue Cheese & Bacon Spinach Dip
Serves 20-25
- 1 large bag of fresh spinach
- 2 quarts heavy cream
- ¼ cup chopped garlic
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon pepper
- 1 pound crumbled blue cheese
- ¼ pound sliced bacon – fried and crumbled
Mix all above ingredients together in large mixing bowl.
Place mixture in an oven safe bowl and bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes at
375 degrees.
Serve with your favorite vegetables, tortilla chips or crackers.
OTOWN Pulled Pork Sliders topped with
Root Beer Onions
Serves 10-15
- 2-3 pound pork loin
- 16 oz. BBQ sauce
- 2 red onions- sliced
- Salt/pepper
- 1 bottle of Not Your Father’s Root Beer
- 2 dozen slider rolls
Season pork loin with salt and pepper & 2 cups of water in a crock pot.
Slow cook pork in the crock pot for 3 ½- 4 hours
Mix in your favorite BBQ sauce.
Slow cook onions in 2 cups of Not Your Father’s Root Beer until reduced.
Add cooked onions on top of each slider.
