WRIGHT TWP. -- While students are still on winter break in our area for a couple more days, one school in Luzerne County was on lock down for a drill.  Crestwood High School played host to an active shooter drill for first responders.

“It's chaos, normally, you may have the alarm going off in the school you may have the sprinkler going off, you may have 20, 30 40 50 children or people depending where you're at running at you, screaming at you,” said Joe Blazosek of the Lackawanna County SWAT team.

The Lackawanna County SWAT team held active shooter drills and taught law enforcement agencies from around Luzerne County how to clear a building at Crestwood High School.

“You're trying to plan on what you're gonna do once you get into that classroom,” Blazosek said.

The Lackawanna County SWAT team has been holding these drills ever since the columbine high school shooting in 1999. But with the growing number of mass shooting around the country, they've been holding the drills more often, said Patrolman David Winsock of the Wright Twp. Police Department.

"With now the two Walmart’s and also the incident in Berwick, it can happen anywhere, and we're trying to train our law enforcement officers we're prepared for that,” he said.

A situation they're prepared to handle, but hope they never have to face.
