SCRANTON -- A traffic stop turned into a chase early Tuesday morning in Lackawanna County. Police have the car but not the driver who lead them through Dunmore and Scranton.

Dunmore police searched that car Tuesday afternoon hours after the chase looking for something that might lead them to the driver and a passenger.

The early morning chase damaged three cars including two Dunmore police vehicles. But, officers said it could have been much worse.

The silver Ford Fusion was reported stolen from Pleasantville, New Jersey. But, that's about all police know about it and the men who were in it around 3:00 Tuesday morning.

Dunmore Police showed the car to Newswatch 16 after searching it for evidence. Officers attempted to stop it after reports of suspicious activity in the borough's Bunker Hill section. But, the Ford Fusion, with two men in it, took off.

The chase led police to the top of East Drinker Street in Dunmore. That is also where the chase ended. The stolen car turned onto an Interstate off ramp and started going the wrong way on Interstate 81. Officers decided it wasn't safe to continue.

The car travelled about four miles in the wrong direction. Officers found it parked along the Interstate in Scranton.

Then, departments from all over the county searched near Roaring brook in Scranton after reports that men were seen jumping into the ravine. Their search though, turned up nothing.
