SALEM TOWNSHIP -- While some of their neighbors spent the morning with families opening presents, about 50 volunteers at the Centenary United Methodist Church in  Wayne County prepared a Christmas dinner for 350 people.

Church volunteers are seeing more people like Anna Kubilus of Lake Ariel. People in need even though their families include full-time wage earners like Anna's husband.

She said, "He'll pull a 12 or 13 hour day. And we still have a hard time making ends meet."

"We get people from all over the place," said Jen Hildebrand of Hamlin.

This is the sixth year the church has provided a Christmas dinner. The dinner is free to anyone.

However, co-organizer Jen Hildebrand says it's striking how the more people are coming and are asking for their Christmas dinner be delivered are people with jobs.

Hildebrand added, "People who are in apartments, low-income apartments, that just don't have the funds to be able to purchase a Christmas dinner. And we're taking those out and delivering them to those people."

"Food and things are expensive," said Kubilus.

In addition to getting her Christmas dinner, Kubilus brought two of her daughters to help serve it. She said, "It is good to give other people help, because you receive it as well."

This mother of five says it's okay to give and to receive during the Christmas season.

Kubilus added, "And if you can get help, get the help. Don't be too proud. There's people willing to make things at least a little bit better."
