JESSUP -- A controversial natural gas plant project is one step closer to happening.
Jessup's borough council approved a conditional zoning permit for the plant Monday night by a vote of 6-1.
The Chicago-based company Invenergy wants to build the natural gas plant in Lackawanna County despite vocal opposition.
The next step is a DEP meeting for other required permits. That meeting is set for January 4.
