WILKES-BARRE -- People in parts of the Rolling Mill Hill neighborhood in are still without heat as temperatures reach their lowest this month after a gas problem at a regulator station on Friday.
UGI crews are still going door to door assessing what needs to be done before they can turn the natural gas back on.
"Came out the door and saw everything happening," said Erycka Keblish. "All the trucks, the police officers the cops, the firemen and it was just nuts."
Keblish and her family are just some of the 125 or so people without natural gas, which means no heat or hot water. They spent Friday night in a hotel.
People affected were given portable heaters by UGI once they were allowed back inside their homes.
"I wish it would've happened when it was warmer," said Eric Keblish. "But we have to deal with what we have to deal with."
"It's like hard to be outside all the time when it's freezing," Erycka Keblish. "It's freezing inside the house too."
In the meantime, people like Javant McClary and his family have blankets and towels blocking the cold air from entering their living room where their portable heater is located and where they'll be sleeping until the gas comes back.
"We're just trying to keep all the heat in the room so we all can be warm," said McClary.
UGI representatives are hopeful that there's a chance some customers can get their natural gas back by the end of the day.
There's no timetable though for others who will need additional equipment to arrive.
On top of that, UGI wants to remind everyone here that under no circumstances should they attempt to turn their natural gas service back on their own.
