Update: Police made an arrest Friday night. Officers said David Barna Jr., 23, of Freeland set the fire in an alley next to the pizza restaurant. The fire damaged the pizza place and an apartment above it. Barna is charged with arson and related offenses. He is locked up in Luzerne County.
FREELAND -- A pizza shop is closed and its owner is looking for a new place to stay after a fire at his restaurant in Luzerne County.
The fire chief told Newswatch 16 the flames sparked in an alley between Sorrento's Pizza and another building on Centre Street in Freeland around 2 a.m. Friday.
The owner of the restaurant was staying in an apartment above his pizza shop and was forced from the building.
According to the chief, there were no injuries at fire, but two firefighters fell through the floor of the building. Those firefighters continued to battle the blaze.
Investigators are expected back at the scene on Friday to figure what sparked the flames.
